Estimated Average Requirements (EARs)

it is a middle point reference needed for a group of people, so 50% of the group will require more and 50% will require less

Reference Nutrient Intakes (RNIs)

it is a reference nutrition intake that means 97.5% classed as almost ALL of a certain group’s nutrition intakes are being met

Lower Reference Nutrient Intakes (LRNIs)

this is the opposite of RNIs, this is enough nutrition intake to meet 2.5% of the group who have lower nutrition requirements than the majority

Safe Intake The Safe intake is used where there is insufficient evidence to set an EAR, RNI or LRNI. The safe intake is the amount judged to be enough for almost everyone, but below a level that could have undesirable effects.
