Primary (in thyroid itself) and central (made up of secondary pituitary and tertiary hypothalamic)

the most common by far is primary thyroid development which makes up for 80% of cases of congenital hypothyroidism

MATERNAL ANTI-THYROID DRUGS
iodine deficiency or opdone excess causing wolf chaikof effect
(WCE = reduction in thyroid hormones caused by ingestion of large amounts of iodine)
