there are two types of oral cavity epithelium,

lining mucosa = stratified squamous epithelium

Masticatory mucosa = Keratinised stratified squamous epithelium

the oral cavity is made up of the oral cavity proper + the oral vestibule

the oral vestibule is the area between closed lips/cheeks and the teeth/gum ridges

the oral cavity proper is the area deep to the teeth/gum ridges and has posterior communication with the oropharynx

mastication is the process of chewing

the 4 primary muscles used for mastication are all inervated by CN V3 (the mandibular nerve)

Masseter = elevates the mandible
